Mr
Timothy (T-Funk) |
 |
|
mrTimothy has
been rocking clubs, radio and the
net with tunes for years. Started
out soulful and smooth and has progressed
through a few styles and across
a few boundaries to make a mark
in Electro Funk, Electro, Tuff House,
Commercial and Progressive House.
The musical results have flowed
in from all over the world with
releases on Ministry Of Sound (Australia,
UK, South Africa & Europe) Tommy
Boy, All Around The World, Rise,
DIY and direct signings on Subliminal.
Chart action speaks volumes when
releasing records and repeated top
10 spots in the Billboard Dance
chart (USA), long term Radio Chart
success in Europe and locally many
#1 and
countless top 10 ARIA releases and
remixes are probably speaking loud
enough. The latest release soon
to be dropped on Ministry Of Sound
“Thump” has already
gained support of many of the tastemaker
DJs and is set to be another weapon
for mrT.
The best thing about making music
is being able to put it in your
DJ bag and go play it in clubs.
mrT’s DJ sets have been littered
with many of his own releases and
remixes and supported by many new
and upfront tracks with a creative
use of acapellas and other tricks
to bring the vibe as high as it
can get. Reading a crowd is important
and knowing when to drop a key acapella
can make the difference between
playing lots of cool records that
the crowd doesn’t know and
entertaining them while educating
them, a part of mrT’s DJ sets
he enjoys the most. Coming from
early DJ roots, being versatile
has always been a factor for mrT,
never wants to leave a room feeling
like the DJ played a selfish set
with out feeling the crowds vibe,
always pushing to educate but entertain
is the most important factor of
his sets.
Travelling has been great for mrT,
USA, Europe and Asia are all spots
he hits and he loves playing to
different markets and spreading
his sound.. he also doesn’t
mind a party!

Dirty
Laundry |
 |
|
Dirty Laundry
has spent the past four years ripping
up dance floors across the country,
cementing their reputation as one
of Australia’s most dynamic
and exciting live acts.
Founding members
JJ Styles and Dean Cherny lovingly
nurtured the band through its infancy,
recruiting legions of fans, and
more than a few “dirty little
groupies” by maintaining a
gruelling and relentless schedule
of touring that has not let up since
2004.
Following a path
more commonly pursued by rock and
indie bands, Dirty Laundry have
positioned themselves perfectly
to unleash their unique and refreshing
sound on a wider and largely unsuspecting
audience.
Nothing can really
prepare you for the Dirty Laundry
experience - it’s non-stop
hands in the air fist pumping action
full of good times, tight rhymes
and funky ass basslines. A hybrid
collection of live instrumentation,
live vocals and electronica. The
idea for the band was inspired by
the likes of Basement Jaxx, Faithless,
Groove Armada and Massive Attack,
artists that brought entertainment
and musicianship back to dance music,
something that had been missing
since the days of disco.
Having recently undergone a facelift,
Dirty Laundry consists of JJ Styles
(Production/DJ/Keyboard), Dean Cherny
(Production/DJ/Jack of all trades),
Lee Lee (Female Vocals), Pete Hypes
(Male Vocals), Mathew Charles (MC),
Stevie Richards (Sax) and Cisco
“the Latin Lover” (Percussion).
Dirty Laundry has developed a new
audio visual show featuring original
animation, created by award winning
graphic designers Spin, that adds
a further dimension to their already
acclaimed live performance. The
animation has been specifically
designed to accompany the music
and allow Dean and JJ to chop, slice,
scratch and mix the video live and
in perfect unison.
Now in the final stages of production,
Dirty Laundry’s eagerly awaited
first studio album is due for release
late 2008. The boys have teamed
up with some of Australia’s
most talented producers, including
Timothy Dudfield (aka Mr Timothy),
Andy J (aka Sgt Slick) and Maarcos
Kwong (1/3 of The Usual Suspects)
to craft a mix of funk infused,
disco spiked electro pop.
Disco Infected,
the first single off the album,
is a catchy guitar laden vocal track
which should hit stores around June
and is sure to reaffirm Dirty Laundry’s
status as one of this countries
most loved electronic acts.

Derek
{K} |
 |

At
the ripe age of 24, Derek has already
accomplished more in his career
than most DJs would hope to achieve
in a lifetime. Labeled “one
of the best young talents coming
up the international ranks”
by the Grand Daddy of house, Marshall
Jefferson . DEREK attacks the decks
harder than Mike Tyson attacks an
ear lobe. Known for blending house
and electro, DEREK's sound is big,
bold, and never fails to burn up
the room. Mixing driving beats with
smooth tracks.
DEREK quickly stamped his presence
within Australia's big party and
fashion scenes, supporting industry
giants like FTV, Pacha, Mischief,
Respect Is Burning, L'oreal and
Summadayze. He has played to crowds
of over 20,000 strong and was the
youngest ever DJ to smash Gatecrasher
and Two Tribes. When Felix da Housecat
comes to town, he gets DEREK on
board, and puts DEREK tracks on
his personal playlists. The respect
doesn’t stop there, with plaudits
from DJ/producer luminaries Jacques
Lu Cont, Steve Angello, DJ Gregory,
Audio Bullys, Sharam Jey, DJ Falcon,
Junior Sanchez, Armand Van Helden,
Moguai and Mousse T.
DEREK’s
DJ schedule has seen him
tour regularly throughout Asia,
Ibiza and Europe, not to mention
up and down the east coast of Australia.
But when the man’s in Melbourne
you can catch him playing to 2500
clubbers as the headline resident
at Famous in Melbourne. March/April
'07 will see DEREK tour the country
for the Future Music Festival for
which he mixed one of the CDs, hitting
the stores nationwide February 26th
featuring 'Hot City' by whiteHEAT
and a remix for Liverpool band The
Delta Fiasco.
DEREK's production
efforts are soon to eclipse all
previous accomplishments. This natural
progression into the studio has
seen him team up with Boycott producing
under the name whiteHEAT, and are
finalizing record deals for some
riotous records that DEREK has been
spinning in his sets. With support
from his luminaries The whiteHEAT
first single 'This Is...' was featured
on the BBC's Radio 1 Essential Selection
at T-In the park in '06. With an
arsenal of original material ready
to drop in the coming months, DEREK's
presence in '07 is surely to be
felt.

Jean
Paul |
 |
|
Electronic music
as a genre has a tendency to move
forward on the crest of whatever
wave is publicly deemed fashionable
in that minute. As the majority
busy themselves with falling into
line behind those occupying the
top spots in DJ magazines hottest
100, it can be difficult to predict
with certainty the next big thing.
Very occasionally the changing of
the guard brings about the exciting
introduction of a talent whose approach
is altogether different than those
currently occupying the spotlight.
Jean-Paul is one of these talents.
His daytime vocation allows him
to keep a finger on the pulse of
the movers and shakers within the
scene whilst providing him rare
insight into who will be the next
big thing. This constantly changing
landscape takes shape daily on screen
in his role as graphic artist for
the southern hemisphere’s
largest electronic music event promoter
Future Entertainment and its diversity
is evidenced in his music selection
and his desire to keep pushing forward.
But what is genuinely unique about
this individual is that this desire
is balanced against a need to connect
with the dance floor and infuse
it with an unmistakable funk driven
element that you’ll agree
is undeniably a sound he owns should
you have the pleasure.
If booking requests and articles
in electronic and print media are
a measure of an artists rise to
prominence, then the last six months
have been a revelation for Jean-Paul.
With residencies at one of the countries
biggest clubs “The Bedroom”
in the Gold Coast, numerous regional
gigs and weeklies scattered amongst
the more discerning venues in Melbourne,
it’s safe to say the word
is out.
With production ear marked as the
top priority over the next 6 months,
the logical progression from spinning
to sculpting is inevitable. What
will differentiate this journey
from similar undertakings by those
that have come before him is the
knowledge that it will be embarked
upon by somebody whose outlook is
as fresh as his approach. And to
top it all off, his skill set backs
it in a truly symbiotic fashion.

Gerry
Morales |
 |
|
There is nothing
more satisfying for Gerry Morales
than playing and listening to beautiful,
beautiful house music! And to be
able to make a living from this
passion, a true blessing that he
is more than grateful for. Happy
days!
Gerry has undoubtedly become one
of the Gold Coast's most popular,
well recognized and respected DJ's.
Gerry has based himself with his
very enviable weekly residency at
The Bedroom Nightclub in Surfers
Paradise, Gold Coast, his weekly
live to air broadcast on South East
Queensland's most popular community
radio station, 105.7 Radio Metro,
broadcast live from The Temple Lounge
Bar, also in Surfers Paradise, plus
guest spots in Brisbane (the GPO),
Cairns (The Velvet Underground),
Port Douglas (Fluid Nightclub) and
Melbourne (Localism).
Gerry is also the founding resident
at the Gold Coast's most popular
lounge bar, ALTO Cucina and Bar
in Broadbeach, where he has been
the musical director since its inseption
in 2004, playing his unique brand
of laidback funk house eash week.
But his funky house talents did
not go un noticed, as to date, he
has played every single lounge bar
in Broadbeach, the only DJ to do
so on the coast. These include,
ALTO, Watergate, Element, Boheme,
Lauxes and Opium. With his profile
ever growing in Broadbeach, Gerry
and his business partner, Giv (Elsewhere
nightclub resident) began a very
successful club night at the Gold
Coasts largest nightclub, The Quest,
called "VERSUS". Each
month Gerry and Giv would books
top level national and local djs
to play at their Versus club nights
where they were also responsible
for the artwork, the promotion distribution,
themeing, printing, radio advertisment
production, hotel and accomodation
and transfers for their artists
and running of the night as well
as playing on the night to top it
all off! The club night ran for
a full 12 months.
As if Gerry had any spare time on
his hands, Gerry entered into a
business agreement with his aforementioned
business partner Giv and opened
the Gold Coast's only record Store,
Toomba Records, where none other
than French house legends, CASSIUS
where on hand as special guests
at their opening night. For the
next four years, Toomba Records
became the Gold Coast's home for
all local and regional djs looking
to get their hands on the latest
sounds from around the globe. Gerry
managed the day to day operation
of the shop where he was fortunate
enough to form strong friendships
with just about every dj on the
Gold Coast while Giv managed the
paperwork (the borring stuff!).
Toomba Records became the focal
point of every nightclubs promtional
material, where clubs would fight
for their posters to be placed in
the shops prime positions, which
demonstrated the value placed on
Toomba Records shop front by every
nightclub on the Gold Coast, and
right in the middle of it all was
Gerry and Giv, with big smiles on
their faces!
Sadly though, the building housing
Toomba Records has since been demolished
to make way for yet another sky
scraper on the Gold Coast skyline,
and in doing so has taken Gerry's
beloved Toomba Records with it,
the only record store on the Gold
Coast, but more than just a record
store, it was a meeting place for
all djs and people with musical
interest to hang out and meet others
in the same circle and to find out
what was going on in and around
the coast's nightclub scene. The
vibe and atmosphere Toomba Records
had in terms of a weekly gathering
of friends within the industry will
never again happen on the coast,
as in this modern age, music is
bought from a pc and long gone are
the days of flicking through a crate
of records and chatting to the guy
behind the counter (usually Gerry)
or next you about the sick record
you found last week....id better
stop or ill cry all night!!
anyway...you cant stop modernisation
so why bitch about it!! Toomba Records,
RIP 2007
Gerry has been invited to play many
guest spots throughout Queensland
(not to mention the hundreds of
backyard shindigs!)including Elsewhere
Nightclub Indy 2005 (winner of "Best
Music Offering in Aust" Bartender
magazine 2007), SoBar, GPO Brisbane,
The Ambassee, Ruby Tramp, Fluid,
Velvet Underground just to name
a few and has made the treck south
to The Metro and Motel in Melbounre
and Electric Circus in Adelaide.
Along with the numerous guest spots
here and there, Gerry has also be
invited to play an odd little gathering
of electronic music lovers, a little
festival by the name of SUMMAFIELDAYZE!
Gerry has played Australia's largest
and most respected music festival
in 2005 and 2008 as well as other
outdoor doof doofs such as Oceans
30, ODDESSY 08 New Years Eve Party
at Dreamworld and INDY Fest 2007
where he closed the festival after
a very loud and energetic GOOD CHARLOTTE
set and Gerry's favourite, The Official
Ralph Magazine Indy Party 2007 as
well as the most recent addition
to the music festival calender,
the CLIMATE MUSIC Festival in Brisbane.
Playing in your native state or
country is one thing, but spreading
your wings and playing on the other
side of the planet is another, a
dream which came true for Gerry
last year when he played over in
South America, which is quickly
becoming a new haven for the undergound
music culture. Gerry was fortunate
enough to play in Buenos Aires,
Argetina, Lima, Peru and his favourite
of the tour Cuzcu, Peru, some 3800
metres above sea level, deep in
the Peruvian Andes! This year Gerry
is Jetsetting off once again in
May/June to drop his trademake sounds
in the UK and The Netherlands.
And it is this saying that guides
Gerry in his music, as well as analyzing
the ambience, crowd, environment,
venue and music policy, Gerry strictly
only plays "good" music,
weather its bumpin funky house on
his weekly radio show, or grinding
electro for the main set on his
saturday night residency or ultra
"cool" electronica for
his closing sets or the odd remix
or bootleg, one things for sure,
no shit music will be dropped by
this man. He is strict, and i mean
strict on this, a self impossed
shit music ban!
And the dancefloor loves him for
it! The proof is in the pudding,
his weekly residency at the Bedroom
Nightclub can boast to being the
busiest nights on the Gold Coast
clubbing scene. This residency has
put Gerry alongside the worlds most
tallented and famous dj's and producers,
the who's who of the dj fraternity
so to speak, where he has supported
them on their tours.
Gerry's other main musical outlet,
other than his club sets, is his
weekly radio show, which is broadcast
live on South East Queensland's
most popular community radio station,
105.7 Radio Metro, which is the
regions only dedicated dance music/cultre
radio station. Gerry named the show
"The Sunday Surmon" as
it is on the holiest of days of
the week and Gerry has been known
to preach and spread the word of
the salvation within funky house
music! It is also broadcast worldwide
via his website www.djgerrymorales.com
and on www.radiometro.com.au. Gerry
has impossed a strict funky house
music only policy for The Sunday
Surmon, no electro anywhere, as
just like Gerry and his club sets,
he likes to offer something different
other than what every other Tom,
Dick and Harry is playing, setting
him appart from his competition.
Gerry Would like to thank all
the people who has been kind and
generous to him on his journey so
far with special thanks to Craig
and Ryan who gave a nobody a chance
and believed. Thank you.

Ash Tobia « |

|
| Ash
Tobia is Gold Coasts undisputed
Prince of house. With a strong
fan base and consistent quality
of house and electro, turns
all dance floors into house
parties on the regular with
his first gig in 1997.
Ash never
received any formal training
as a DJ. He studied and watched
other big name DJ’s
of the time and threw himself
into it and work on his own
style of mixing. Ash quickly
established himself as a resident
DJ and at the same time Ash’s
profile was building quickly
via the Gold Coast leading
dance radio station, where
he also landed a gig as an
on air announcer.
Already recognized as one
of Australia’s best
resident dj’s, his place
in the DJ world was cemented
when house legends Roger Sanchez,
David Moralez & Frankie
Knuckles just to name a few
were all individually impressed
with his sets and enthusiastically
played his music.
His reputation
intact and wowing a host of
national and international
celebrities
And promoters alike, One gig
lead to another and before
too long he was supporting
the worlds best.
Ash Tobia
has traveled and played overseas.
In 2000 Ash took time out
and headed to the capital
of House music, IBIZA, simply
to discover and learn. It
wasn’t too long before
he found himself doing guests
spots and further advancing
his name at an international
level.
Ash has rocked
major festivals including
Summafieldayze in 2005, 2006
and 2007. With current residences
at The Bedroom and Platinum
on the Gold Coast.
In spite
of it all, however, it is
only one thing that audiences
truly sense when they hear
Ash Tobia spin. It’s
the one thing that keeps his
crowds coming back to him
for more. It’s the force
that keeps Ash constantly
moving forward in a world
immersed in stillness. That
thing is called the power
of music. Ash’s has
ability to rock crowds with
fresh tunes and mix it with
tunes that the crowds love
to hear.

| A
Sydney boy born and bred,
growing up in the inner west
suburb of Strathfield. Music
was always going to be a huge
part of Joey Mojo's life.
From break dancing on his
fathers marble desk to the
sounds of Run DMC at the age
of 5 to learning every instument
known to man all through school.
But it wasn't till the age
of 15, after an under age
dance patry at Sega World
where he witnessed a memorable
set by Hixxy, that he found
two technic 1200's a pioneer
mixer and crates full of vinyl.
Breaking away from the RnB/Hip
Hop genre he was quickly getting
bored with, he started experimenting
with trance and happy hardcore.
Quickly picking up the art
of beat matching and music
manipulation.
Fast forward
10 years to the age of 25,
after travelling the world
Joey Mojo settled down on
the QLD city of the Gold Coast.
Here slowly establishing his
name as one of the up and
coming DJ's. Having matured
from the head thumping sounds
of Happy Hardcore and Trance
Joey Mojo concentrated his
musical selection to Deep

Joey Mojo
